Sergeant First Class Brandon Potter

Army ROTC Department
Memorial Hall, Room 133

Born and raised in Yorktown, VA, where I graduated from Grafton HS in 2009. I married my wife Lauren before leaving for basic training in June of 2011; we have a 4-year-old boy named Bodhi.

I enlisted in March of 2011 and attended Infantry OSUT at Fort Moore, GA. Upon graduating Infantry OSUT I was assigned to A Co., 1-68 AR, 3rd BCT, 4ID. Where I served as a SAW Gunner and Team Leader.

In January of 2015, I PCS’d to Camp Casey, Korea and was assigned to A Co, 1-72 AR, 1BCT, 2ID where I served as a Team Leader. My time spent there was short due to Camp Casey’s restructuring, and it became a rotational deployment.

Following my time in Korea, I was then assigned to 2-87 IN, 2nd BCT, 10th MTN DIV (LI) there I served as a Rifle Platoon Squad Leader, Weapons Squad Leader, and a Reconnaissance Section Leader. In 2016, I deployed to Helmand Province Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom Sentinel.

August of 2018, I was Department of Army selected to attend the Army Recruiting Course with a follow-on assignment of Cherry Hill, NJ. On March 3,2020 my wife and I welcomed our little boy Bodhi to the world.

Upon completion of my recruiting duty, I was once again stationed at Ft Drum NY, with 1-32 IN, 1BCT, 10th MTN DIV (LI). Duty positions that I held include Rifle Platoon Sergeant, Heavy Weapons Platoon Sergeant, Forward Support Company First Sergeant and BN OPS Sergeant. In 2022, I deployed to Syria in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. I was also the BN SHARP Victim Advocate. My Awards include an Expert Infantry Badge, Bronze Star, 4x ARCOM’s and 3x AAM’s.
