Major Matthew J. Dirisio
A proud native of Olean, New York, MAJ Matthew DiRisio began his military career after graduating from St. Bonaventure University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and receiving his active-duty commission through Army ROTC in 2010. His initial assignment following the Quartermaster Basic Officer Leader Course at Fort Lee, Virginia, was with the 782nd Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. It was during this period that he first deployed to Afghanistan (OEF XII) in 2012, serving as both a platoon leader and a company executive officer. Upon his return, MAJ DiRisio took on the role of rigger platoon leader within the 11th Quartermaster Company, 264th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 82nd Sustainment Brigade. He was subsequently selected to serve as an aide-de-camp in the 3rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), with whom he deployed to Afghanistan again in 2014 (OEF XIV). Continuing his professional development, MAJ DiRisio graduated from the Army Logistics University’s Logistics Captains Career Course in 2015 and subsequently commanded Papa Company, 244th Quartermaster Battalion at Fort Lee, Virginia, for over two years. Selected for Advanced Civil Schooling, he attended George Mason University, where he earned a Master of Arts in History in 2019. Following this, MAJ DiRisio served at the United States Military Academy at West Point until 2021, holding positions as an instructor, course director, and assistant professor in the Department of Military Instruction. After completing Resident Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, he was selected to return to West Point as the G-4 for the Corps of Cadets (USCC). In this capacity, he managed the logistics for approximately 4,500 cadets for over 32 months. Currently, MAJ DiRisio serves as an Assistant Professor of Military Science at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte while also performing duties as the Battalion Executive Officer.
CPT DiRisio’s military awards and decorations include the Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Parachute Rigger Badge, Army Senior Instructor Identification Badge, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), German Armed Forces Parachutist Badge (Bronze), German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold), and the British Army Parachute Badge,
Outside of his military and academic commitments, MAJ DiRisio is married to his wife Elizabeth DiRisio, and they are raising their four children in Charlotte, NC.
